Sonic to Feature in Xbox One and PS4 in 2015

Sonic has remained to be a powerful name in the gaming industry and the recent reports about it getting aligned  to Xbox One and PS4 is no less than a great news for the fans. It is expected to feature in both Xbox One and PS4. This news was confirmed at the Nuremburg International Toy fair when the plans of Sonic were leaked to the public there.

According to the sources, a new Sonic animated series is about to feature in the market. The other games that had been announced before like the Sonic: Lost world for the Wii U and 3DS and Sonic Mario game for Wii U will be released for the Sochi Winter Olympics event. An unnamed Sonic game is also expected to feature in the market in 2015 which will work on almost all the platforms including the likes of Wii U, Xbox One and PS4.

The previous announcement that was made by Nintendo and Sega mentioned that the three Sonic games lined up next will be exclusive for Wii U and 3DS. However, the claims went for a toss when speculations started building up that it will be available for PS4 and Xbox One too.

However, this decision made by Sonic is not expected to hurt the ambitions of Nintendo at the market. Sonic had not been the sales powerhouse for Nintendo for a long time now.

This is not the first time that a “Sonic” game has been released for the Sony and Microsoft consoles. The games that were announced in 2011 were released for Xbox 360 and PS3. Sonic Unleashed in 2009 and Sonic the Hedgehog went through the same fate.  The other Sonic games that are not mentioned here also featured on both Xbox and PlayStation. The deal that has been struck between Nintendo and Sonic is expected to make an interesting development in the coming stages.

In the last decade, Sega’s Sonic games have been receiving rave reviews from the critics. They have got some decent scores in the market. However, none of them have stood out or become a blockbuster. They have remained to be somehow average considering their ratings. The legacy of the first few games from Sonic that made a huge buzz in the market is still unfound. The decline of Sonic as a brand is attributed to its collaboration with other franchises that contributes to the loss in quality.
