Litter Genie Refill Instructions: How to Replace the Filter and Cassette

If you have a Litter Genie, then you know how important it is to keep the filter and cassette replaced. If not, your cat’s litter will quickly start to smell. In this blog post, we will walk you through the process of replacing both the filter and cassette in your Litter Genie. It’s a quick and easy process, so don’t worry!

What is the filter:

The Litter Genie filter in the Litter genie refill is a carbon filter that helps to absorb odors. It is located at the top of the unit, under the lid. The filter should be replaced every two months or as needed.

When should you replace the filter:

We recommend replacing the filter every two weeks.

To replace the filter:

  • Remove the lid from the Litter Genie and unscrew the top of the canister (the part with the handle).
  • Pull out the old filter and dispose of it properly.
  • Screw on the new filter tightly.
  • Replace the lid on the Litter Genie and screw it on tight.

What is the cassette:

The Litter Genie cassette is a plastic bag that holds the cat litter. The cassette is located at the bottom of the unit and can be removed for easy emptying and cleaning. The cassette should be replaced every six months or as needed.

When should you replace the cassette:

We recommend replacing the cassette every four weeks.

To replace the cassette:

  • Remove the upper cover of the cassette from the Litter Genie and unscrew the top of the canister
  • Pull out the old cassette and dispose of it properly.
  • Insert the new cassette into the canister, making sure that it is seated correctly.
  • Screw on the lid of the canister tightly.
  • Replace the upper cover on the Litter Genie and screw it on tight.

Locate those two:                               

First, you’ll need to locate the filter and cassette. The filter is located at the top of the Litter Genie, while the cassette is located at the bottom. If you need to, you can also replace the litter in your Litter Genie. We recommend doing this every four weeks as well.
