Robert Nesta Marley OM, popularly known as Bob Marley literally took the world by storm. This tornado was born on 6th February 1945 and breathed his last on the 11th of May, 1981. Marley was a reggae singer from Jamaica. Apart from singing, he also wrote his songs, and strummed the guitar to them. He was well known throughout the world for his performances. He began in 1963 with a band called the Wailers. He had a style of his own, a style that was a reflection of the rest of the world. The producer of Wailers, Lee Scratch Parry made huge profits with some exceptional releases of the band.

The band broke in 1974 and this is when Bob Marley, the legend arose. He shifted base to England and released his first album titled Exodus in the year, 1977. The album was instantly a bestseller. It sold 75 million records! The album was a hit for a little more than a year. The most popular songs from the album were –

Waiting in Vain
One love

In the year 1978, Marley belted out a new album called Kaya and once again, the album was a hit. Singles such as “Is this love” and “satisfy my soul” created waves once again.

Though, he was a legendary singer, his fame was short lived. He was diagnosed with Melanoma in the year 1977 and four years later, he succumbed to the disease. He died at the age of 36.
